Presentation

Heraldry is the science of blazon. But what is a coat of arms?

In the mid-medieval period, soldiers covered themselves with colourful distinctive signs to be able to recognise each other on the battlefield. During knightly tournaments, the "Herald" described and announced the knights entering the fray, recognising them by these signs. This was the birth of heraldry. In this workshop you will discover the different coats of arms from the Middle Ages to the present day and soon the symbols used will hold no secrets for you. You will then be able to draw and create, with the help of your instructor, your own coat of arms on a wooden shield. It's up to you to personalise it with your coat of arms and to create your family's coat of arms!

You are now ready for the knights' tournament!
